Maria, we love you!

Maria, we love you!

To Kennyf and Maria: Hello Kenny, may name is Jerome Broomfield, your cousin Aaron’s dad. I first saw Maria in 1971, at Headrick Hall, the dorms at UCLA. It was an early October afternoon and she had been there to help Beverly, her sister move in. Well, a group of us guys were sitting around watching the new freshmen ladies arriving onto campus! There was your mom along with your uncle Mike, your grand parents and Beverly- Maria’s sister. I did not know it but that group of people would soon be a part of my life in a big way. Some months after that I started to date your aunt Beverly and started a family relationship that would last even to this day.
I remember the first time I met your mother, she was just a 9 year old,but you could see all over her that one day she was going to be a very special person.
Each time I would visit I was always treated like family- Maria and her brother Mike would include me in any of their activities and we had such a great time being together. We laughed a lot and had a blast when they moved into a house that included a swimming pool! We had a ball!
As the years passed Your aunt Beverly and I got married and Maria was one of the most beauteful young ladies at the wedding. We all loved her, as well as Mike so much !
I remember when she graduated from High school. It was a great day, we had a chance to talk on the phone and it was neet listening to all of the plans she had made for her new life as an adult.
Maria was a very good student however decided not to attend college but start a carreer. I think we were dissapointed by that decision but what the heck- we all knew she would do well in anything she took on. Shortely after that Maria bought her first car- I think it was a toyota of some type, she was all so proud and we were all so happy for her.
Some time after that as life has it, Beverly and I were divorced- that took my relationship with her familt into a new direction. That not withstanding, Maria and I still had a lot of love for each other. She was always kind and would come all the way from Sunnymead Californin to bring your cousin Aaron back to me in L.A.
Well after that back and fourth business ended I lost track of Maria and the family. I would get regular up dates from Beverly, your aunt, but literally have not seen Maria since your birth. I am sorry for that, and I am sorry that you and Aaron were not close enough to have a relationship. In my prayors I never for got you all. We prayed for you all regularly and will do so in the future.
Kenny, God bless you and keep you always and when the days get long and the nights seem lonely , just remember there is an angel watching over you. Also know that Aaron and I are here in L.A. and when you need a listening ear we have ours open for you. Sincerely, your “would have been uncle”, Jerome Broomfield and Aaron.
